Costumes for World Book Day 26

Its World Book Day coming up soon and I just had the pleasure of meeting Jaimie incredible bookshop owner of Clemo Books in Newquay, Cornwall where The Clothes Horse is also based.  We talked about World Book Day creeping up on us and Jaimie kindly gave us some World Book Day books to take to The Clothes Horse hub as well as some lovely Clemo Bookmarks.

As an avid reader of books and a book lover (nothing quite the smell of a book) I think it is so important that reading is encouraged and books are available for us to read.

World Book Day is a fantastic event that we fully support at The Clothes Horse.  Many schools on this day offer children the opportunity to dress up as a favourite book character which is a great idea.

Costume Ideas…

If your school is offering this and you are not too sure what your children could wear here are some easy, make at home suggestions:

Paddington Bear - Red hat, blue coat or blue clothes, red socks, suitcase if you have one.

Gangsta Granny - Bandit eye mask (could make one or face paint it), Granny type blouse, skirt, tights and slippers

Alice in Wonderland - Blue dress, white apron and hair band/ bow

Mr. Bump - Blue top and trousers, bandage and wrap it round

Charlie from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - old, worn clothes and make a golden ticket out of some cardboard.

Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk - A shirt, trousers and make a beanstalk from painting a long cardboard tube and stick some leaves on it made from paper or cardboard.

Harry from Harry and the bucketful of dinosaurs - Normal clothes but could have dinosaur themed ones if you have them and a bucket filled with toy dinosaurs.

From the Midnight Gang - Pyjamas and a pillow

One of 101 Dalmations - An old white tshirt that you can put black dots on it with a marker pen and you could use face paint if wanted to paint dots on the face.

Greg from Diary of a Wimpy Kid - white t-shirt, black shorts, black trainers and a back pack.

If you have a princess outfit then you could be: Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, The Princess and the frog, The Princess and the Pea.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears - Normal clothes and bring along 3 cuddly bears.

We hope that these are helpful and makes the whole dress up idea more fun and easy for you.
